MotionApps Classic seems stable

classic07062009Keep your fingers crossed … but MotionApps Classic seems stable after applying my fix.  I am running the following PalmOS programs through Classic:

  • Astraware Solitaire
  • Bejeweled
  • Bejeweled2
  • Chuzzle
  • Hammerheads
  • HanDBase 4
  • ListPro
  • Sudoku by Astraware
  • TV Browser

In fact most Astraware games should work!  But, Pop Caps is working on WebOS native versions of their games.

Although ListPro works in Classic, it can not import database files.  Thankfully, I was able to export my databases from ListPro as CSV files and import them into HanDBase 4.  In fact, HanDBase 4 works so well that you can even update just by importing a replacement PDB file which over-writes the old one.

Do you have a big collection of DVDs or MP3s? Would you like to carry the list with you? has the solution!  Collectorz has customized programs to catalog the following:

  • DVDs
  • MP3s
  • Videogames
  • Comics
  • Books
  • and even Photos.

They just released a native app for the iPhone, but you can export your collection and import them into HanDBase 4.

  1. Just a few clarifications on our side, as these posts might be confusing to our customers and your readers:
    – BSODs that Classic users were experiencing in Classic v1.0.3 were occurring because Palm omitted to include certain components of Classic in webOS 1.0.3 update. (The file that has “ROM” in its name is missing in webOS 1.0.3 and that is the cause of BSOD)
    – The only way to fix this is to install webOS 1.0.4 as it does contain correct Classic files
    – Your fix is the temporary solution that can force Classic to use even older version of Palm OS ROM – the one that was present on your phone before webOS 1.0.3 update. So, even as this may seem to work in your case, it won’t fix anything really. The one and only way to fix the issue caused by Palm’s mistake is to install webOS 1.0.4.

You can find much more details on our blog – We encourage you to visit our blog and to share information you find there with your readers, since suggesting them to try some other fixes or workarounds will be misleading.

  2. So nice of you guys to respond! What about the frustration that you put your PAYING CUSTOMERS through for weeks WITHOUT clarification! Blame Palm all you want. Your company did not respond to emails nor phone calls. Your blog had no information about resolving this problem, and in fact, had incorrect information about how to install programs. Even your ClassicRomUpdater did not resolve this problem!

If it was not for my temporary fix, you would have a lot more refund requests. As it is, your Classic App still has a lousy rating in the Pre App store as a result of your company’s incompetent handling of this matter.
