Last week I wrote about the Motorokr S305 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones. These headphones worked with the Palm Pre. I was so impressed with these headphones that I started looking for Bluetooth stereo headphones that I could hook-up to my HI-DEF TV. Currently, they do not exist! Headphones by Sennheiser, Sony and JVC all work off of Infrared or RF, but not Bluetooth. Surprising!
I then started to think … all you need is a Bluetooth Transmitter with an stereo Audio-Input. The complication?? Bluetooth usually needs to pair by accepting a passcode. But, neither the headphones nor the transmitter have a keyboard. Problem?? Not if you plan it right.
Both the Motorokr S305 and the Sony Two-Way Bluetooth Adapter (model #HWS-BTA2W) use the same passcode of 0000. Just put them both into pairing-mode and they will find each other. The sound is great and the range is over 20 feet!
NOTE — If your TV does not have a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, you will need an adapter cable connecting stereo RCA connectors to a 3.5mm stereo jack. You can find this cable at your local Radio Shack and online.
Hi and good morning,Is there anyway to contact you or you me? My number is xxxxxxxxxx and this is my issue. My mother has sever hearing loss and wears hearing aids that are bluetooth capable.Unfortunately the TV is not(3 year old sony bravia. She keeps the TV volume max to hear it yet there is still transference loss due to the brain needing to work with the TV volume and the electronic hearing aids. If I could route the sound directly to the aids it would make a big difference. Thanks,Mick
As long as your mother’s TV has an Audio Out (most Sony’s do), this device
will work. You may also need an adapter cable connecting stereo RCA
connectors to a 3.5mm stereo jack. With this in place, any Bluetooth
Stereo headset that emits a passcode of 0000 will work.
You list of items:
1. Sony Two-Way Bluetooth Adapter (model #HWS-BTA2W)
2. adapter cable connecting stereo RCA connectors to a 3.5mm stereo jack
(available at Radio Shack)
3. any Bluetooth Stereo headset that emits a passcode of 0000 (like the
Motorokr S305 or one of the Sony Bluetooth headsets)
If this seems too complicated, you can just use one of the Sennheiser
Wireless RF Headphones like the Sennheiser Rs110 926 Mhz Wireless Rf
Headphones available from Amazon for under $40.
Good luck.
I have the same problem Mick’s mother has but I don’t think you answered the question: how do you “route the sound directly” to the hearing aids. I use hearing aids and supplement them with a Bluetooth signal receiveing device worn on a cord around my neck. What must I attach to my TV, A 52″ SONY Bravia, to send its audio signal to my Bluetooth device which in turn would transmit an audio signal to my hearing aids?
Thank you,
Ed Rudetsky
Not sure how I can be clearer about this than my previous answer.
You need a Bluetooth transmitter like the Sony Two-Way Bluetooth Adapter (model #HWS-BTA2W) which connects to the TV’s audio-out (like the 3.5 stereo jack). The transmitter will send the audio signal from the TV to a Bluetooth device within range. Note the receiving Bluetooth device must be able to sync with the transmitter (both transmitter and device must use the same passcode like 0000).
If all this seems to difficult, you would probably be better off with a pre-packaged solution like one of the Sennheiser Wireless RF Headphones.
i have a bravia 32ex403 lcd and wish to use a pair of bluetooth headphones with, can i use a usb bluetooth dongle with the tv?
Sorry, but that’s a question for Sony. If your TV has a USB port, it may be limited to an import device as in showing photos or video on the TV itself. The Sony Two-Way Bluetooth Adapter connects directly to the audio-out which is why it works.
I GOT A QUESTION…INSTEAD OF SENDING THE SIGNAL TO HEADPHONES IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE WIRELESS SPEAKERS INSTEAD? IF I HAD THE ADAPTER FOR THE TV AND WIRELESS BLUETOOTH SPEAKERS WOULD THAT WORK?
Yes, I am now using the Sony Two-Way Bluetooth Adapter to connect to the Yamaha NX-BO2 Bluetooth Stereo Speaker. However, keep in mind, there is a delay when using the Bluetooth so you will not be able to use both the internal TV speakers and the Bluetooth Speaker. They will be out of sync.
How much of a delay is there when using the HWS-BTA2W and a bluetooth speaker? (i will be using the Jawbone Jambox)
Enough to create an echo. You will need to disable the TV’s internal speaker.
i hav an vizio wifi app tv with no blue tooth i wnt it do hav bluetooth so i can use the vizio bluetooth remote from an newer version how do i get tv to read bluetooth if it does hav..
This device sends audio only through bluetooth. It will not be interactive to receive commands. You will need to contact Vizio directly.

The bluetooth adapter is available on Amazon, ebay, Walmart and other online vendors for about $50 USD. Just search for either “Sony Two-Way Bluetooth Adapter” or “model #HWS-BTA2W”. It should look just like the picture in the article.
The headphones are also available on Amazon, ebay, Walmart and other online vendors for about $40 USD. Just search for “Motorokr S305 Bluetooth”.
Photoframd, I have hts bta2 and jawbone. I can’t sync them together. Would like to hear TV. I know everything is hooked up correctly. Help thk u
This bluetooth transmitter works perfectly with my Sony HD TV. I bought an RCA to 3.5 mini cord to connect the TV to the BT device. It paired perfectly with two of my BT headsets. However I am only able to send sound to one headset at a time. I was hoping to send audio to both headsets for late night movies and NFL games. Is there a solution?
Hi Ineed to have the signal from the headsets microfon out of the transmitter and connected to a recorder. While listen to the tv sound.
Is this possible. Maybe with another transmitter?
Thank you
