May is a great time for Bird Photography

May on Long Island is a wonderful time for bird photographers.  All sort of colorful birds start migrating to Long Island.  The trees are just starting to bud, so they do not block your shots.

I have been using the Sigma 50-500mm lens with the Canon 7D for two years now.  It’s an impressive lens that produces results, especially hand-held with Image Stabilization enabled.  Just be sure to use TV Shutter Priority mode set to 1/500 of a second.  You can easily push the ISO to 1000 while shooting RAW with the Canon 7D and remove any digital noise in Lightroom 4 (or Camera Raw).

Take a look at these photos and be sure to look at my other articles below about the Sigma 50-500mm lens.

All photos taken with the Canon 7D and the Sigma 50-500mm hand-held.
