The one and only Sigourney Weaver was honored on Day 2 at New York Comic Con. This Icon of so many genres was interviewed by Josh Horowitz after Tom Skerrit bowed out of the Alien panel.

Sigourney talked about the original Alien and how she became the original final girl because it was unheard of at the time. They discussed her huge Oscar nominated role in Aliens and, of course, that “Get away from her, you bitch” line which was shot in one of two takes.  Sigourney said that she actually wanted to shoot it a third time because of her inflection on “you bitch”, but James Cameron loved the first take.  It also was a very complex shot to maneuver the rig.

Best yet, Sigourney revealed that she would love to reprise the role of Ripley and where the character is now.  Walter Hill who produced the other Alien movies wrote the first 50 pages of a script and she is very excited about the direction!

She then wrapped by talking about her other roles like Galaxy Quest, Ghostbusters, Avatar, and Gorillas in the Mist.

Veronica Cartwright who was supposed to be part of the original Alien Panel came out later and the two women reminisced about the original Alien movie.  Veronica said that both were surprised by the chest bursting scene since they did not receive details of how it would be shot.  Their shocked reactions were honest.  Veronica then said they referred to the chest burster as the “grey penis”.  This was a great panel!
